Zed Link Duo GPIO triggering

Hi,

I am looking for technical documentation regarding the J13 GPIO header on the ZED Link Duo. I’ve reviewed the standard datasheet and related documentation but couldn’t find the pinout or functional specifications for this specific interface.

Could you clarify if these pins can be used for hardware GPIO triggering? Specifically, I need to know:

  • Voltage Level: Is the logic level 3.3V or 5V (and is it 5V tolerant)?

  • Current Drive Strength: Can it support a minimum of 5mA?

  • Directionality: Can the J13 pins be configured as a Trigger Input (to receive a sync pulse) or a Trigger Output (to send one)?

Context: I am attempting to establish a hardware-level synchronization between a ZED stereo setup and an Ouster OS-1 Rev7 LiDAR. I am thinking of using the ZED stereo as the one sending the trigger. I’ve seen similar discussions regarding the ZED Link Quad ( Zed Link Quad (zed x one gmsl2 * 6) and ouster LiDAR Sync - #3 by shpark98 ) but need to confirm the capabilities for the Duo.

Any pinout diagrams or electrical spec sheets you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @albertoq,

Welcome to the forums :waving_hand:

The short answer is the Capture Card Duo does support external triggering in master/slave modes, we are preparing to release the docs on this shortly.

  • Voltage level is 3.3V only.
  • Current drive strenght: The pins use a level shifter, so we would need to confirm this on our side
  • Directionality: yes the pins can be configured to trigger both ways
