Troubleshooting a Zed2i installation.

Hello,

I try to port a working application with the Zed2i camera from one
system to another and I could use your expertise to diagnose my problem.

I have two host systems:

a) Windows11/ZedSDK5.0/CUDA13 (RTX 4080)

b) Windows10/ZedSDK5.0/CUDA12 (GTX 1050TI/4GB)

With the host (a) everything is working fine from day 1.

Now, I try to port my application to the system (b) and I installed
CUDA-sdk, updated the NVIDIA-drivers and installed ZED-sdk fine. As I
did before to verify the installation I run the ZED_Diagnostic tool and optimized the NEURAL-models successfully.

The ZED-Explorer shows the image fine. However ZED-Depth-Viewer will not connect to the camera. From the sample application ZED_Depth_Sensing from
the SDK, I get following output.

C:\Program Files (x86)\ZED SDK\samples\bin>ZED_Depth_Sensing.exe
[2025-10-21 13:23:41 UTC][ZED][INFO] Logging level INFO
[Sample][Error] Camera Open | NO GPU COMPATIBLE : An NVIDIA GPU (Pascal
or newer) is required to run this software (for Kepler and Maxwell GPU,
please use CUDA 10.2 ZED SDK installers) Exit program.

Obviously, the sample application doesn’t recognize my GPU (a
Pascal-GPU) correctly.

Can you please help me to diagnose the installation on the host system
(b)?

Best Regards

Hi @pavolk
please run the ZED Diagnostic tool on the system “b”, save the report, then share the content here.

As a new user, I can’t attach a file so I just paste it here…

The diagnostic is good. Can you visualize the depth with this example?

Hi @Myzhar,

as I wrote initially, this sample application doesn’t work too. Please see the output in my first message.

IMO, the issue should be looked for where the GPU-support is tested, because the sample doesn’t recognize the GPU correctly. However, the GPU-support test within the diagnostic tool does correctly recognize the GPU. Can you check the difference between the two tools?

My initial issue was the depth-viewer failing to open capture from the camera. Maybe the depth-viewer fails too on the GPU-support test. But the depth-viewer doesn’t output any error message, instead it just deadlocks on looping between connecting and opening capture…

I think, I saw a topic in the forum couple of days ago reporting same issue with the depth-viewer. I’ll try to find the topic in the meantime…

How can I configure the logging to see more? Es especially with the depth-viewer, some more diagnostic output may help…

Thanks for helping!

Pavol

Your GPU GTX 1050TI has Pascal architecture. Normally, this kind of error on Windows is generated by bad drivers and bad CUDA versions.

Please try to downgrade CUDA to v12.6 or 12.4 and then reinstall the ZED SDK.

Hello @Myzhar,

as you suggested, I habe downgraded the CUDA installation from 12.9 to 12.1. I concluded from the ZED-sdk installer filename (ZED_SDK_Windows_cuda12.1_tensorrt8.6_v5.0.7) that would be the best version to try.

Unfortunatelly, I can’t report any improvements. The same issues with the depth-viewer and the sample application…

The depth-viewer deadlocks bw. “Waiting for camera…” and “Opening Live…”

The sample application reports the same problem with GPU-support.

Here the diagnostics output:

ZED_Diagnostic_Results_cuda_12.1.json (17.0 KB)

Any new ideas?

Is there any log-file or anything to allow more information to diagnose the issues?

How can I control the verbosity of the logging?

Thanks for helping!

Please check that there’s not an Antivirus blocking the activities of the ZED SDK.
That’s what normally happens on Windows 10 with Kaspersky or similar.

I just checked. There is no antivirus software installed on that computer.

I also followed your suggestion and downgraded the NVIDIA-drivers from 581.57 (newest as of today) back to 535.98 and to 528.49 (Feb/2023).

With the NVIDIA-drivers version 535.98, I’ve had the same problem, with the version 528.49, the ZED-diagnostic tool said that I should update.

Please see the diagnostics reports attached…

ZED_Diagnostic_Results_cuda_12.1_driver_528.49.json (16.9 KB)

ZED_Diagnostic_Results_cuda_12.1_driver_535.98.json (16.6 KB)

ZED_Diagnostic_Results_cuda_12.1.json (17.0 KB)

What next?

Thanks for helping!

Just adding the nvidia-smi output for the two latest driver installations as previously mentioned…

One last downgrade of the NVIDIA-driver to the driver fitting the CUDA 12.1…

As you can see in the screen shot the diagnostic-tool doesn’t approve the graphics card.

ZED_Diagnostic_Results_cuda_12.1_driver_531.json (16.9 KB)

Is there any chance to get more diagnostic information from the ZED-sdk or the tools about the issue? Any parameter to get more verbose output from the depth-viewer? The sample application suggests that the logging is set to INFO-level. How about set it to DEBUG or TRACE level?

What next?

Is this PC a laptop or a desktop PC?

Hello @Myzhar ,

The host-system (b) is a Dell XPS laptop.

BTW, both of the systems (a) and (b) are laptop computers.
