ZedBox Orin NX - Are OTA Jetson Linux updates safe (36.3 -> 36.4)

We have some ZedBoxes deployed as simple remote streaming boxes, running Jetson Linux 36.3 / Jetpack 6.0. I’d like to update them to Jetson Linux 36.4 / Jetpack 6.2, but I’m hesitant to do so without confirming that this is safe. Perhaps this was a manufactured memory, but I remember seeing documentation indicating this is only safe to do on developer kit carrier boards, due to device tree files getting updated by .deb packages.

For clarity, this is the process I want to follow: Software Packages and the Update Mechanism — NVIDIA Jetson Linux Developer Guide

I couldn’t find any ZedBox docs indicating whether or not this is a normal operation; am I good to go here?

Hi @wrigby
Welcome to the StereoLabs community.

You can safely upgrade the ZED Box to JP6.2 by using the official upgrade script. Do not use OTA.

Thanks - great to know!

Have you guys tested out the Upgradable Compute Stack option - leaving the BSP on Jetson Linux 36.3 but upgrading to Jetpack 6.1 or 6.2? How to Install and Configure JetPack SDK — JetPack 6.2 documentation

We’re trying to solve this silly bug that causes log spew in Jetpack 6.0: Hardware encoding throwing errors after update to R36.3.0 - Jetson AGX Orin - NVIDIA Developer Forums

These boxes aren’t easily accessible (installed in a ceiling), so I’d like to be able to update them without plugging in a flashing laptop if possible.

Unfortunately, this is not supported.
