We are recording using a few ZED One 4K cameras, and we observe overexposure and bad image quality in situations where we would expect HDR to solve the problems. Here are a few questions
1- We noticed that we can’t activate HDR in the 4K config, then read here Zed X one 4K clear HDR that it’s not supported, are there concrete plans to support HDR for 4K? How about support for 1080p?
2- We see that the 1200p and QHD+ configurations support HDR, however, when activated we see bad image quality, as you can see in these images (grabbed from ZED_Explorer)
Do you have any thoughts on what parameters to tune, or other approaches to use to improve the image quality in these cases?
Background:
We are using ZEDX One 4K and ZED Box Orin Nano
We are tried both with SDK 5.1.1 and SDK 5.2.3
The problem is prevalent in a non-trivial amount of data collected with the sensor, in some cases it completely blow outs the image when recording with 4K
Thanks for your reply. We didn’t try the newer versions at first since we are currently using ZED X driver v1.4.1, which according the release documentation “Reduced high noise levels when using HDR mode on the ZED X One 4K“ and we didn’t see any fixes related to HDR in v1.4.2 release documentation.
After updating to the suggested versions we see the same problem (the image quality is even worse, since now it’s even darker in the room where the cameras sit) - let me know if you prefer to reproduce it in other conditions
I’ve just forwarded all the details to the hardware team.
It’s probably an ISP tuning issue that will be fixed with one of the next release of the ZED X Driver and ZED SDK.
