ZED X connection issues

Hello,
I’m trying to use ZED X camera on ZED Box Orin NX 16GB. When I open ZED Explorer, it starts streaming video from it, which stops after about 10-30, showing this error in the terminal after few more seconds:

Restarting ZED Explorer doesn’t restart the streaming - to do so, I need to restart both nvargus-daemon and zed_x_daemon, but after that the whole process repeats - streams freeze after 10-30s. Problem is not limited to ZED Explorer - nearly the same issues happen with ROS2 wrapper - I’m able to start it and receive data for some time, then it stops.

There is a lot of happening in the logs:

  • dmesg show some I2C issues related to ZED X: Failed to register i2c client eeprom_zedxone_uhd at 0x54 (-16)
  • journalctl shows hundreds of nvargus-daemon errors and warnings

I’ve also tried updating the ZED X drivers (currently, I’m using 1.2.0-LI-MAX96712-all-ZEDBOX-L4T36.3.0), but it didn’t help.

Just to mention - I have the second set of hardware (ZED X + ZED Box), on which everything works without similar issues.

What version of the ZED SDK are you using?

What’s the length of the GMSL2 cables?

Hello @Myzhar,
I’m using SDK version: 4.1.2, camera is connected via a four way splitter and a 5 m cable - it’s the same as on the other set of the hardware that is working without issues.

Please update to:

I’ve just done it - the problem still happens, without any changes

Please run a new diagnostic test and send me the new diagnostic report

The issue doesn’t seem to be related to ROS2 wrapper, as similar issues happen with ZED Explorer - it can connect to the camera fresh after the restart, stream the video for few seconds before the freeze, on the next try it cannot even connect to it. In the meantime I’ve tried to connect the second ZED X camera that I have to this ZED Box - the same problem happened.

I encountered this issue suddenly… Tried downgrading to ZED SDK 4.2.3, but the problem persists.

I am encountering the same issue- ZEDXMini cameras run for a while and then disconnect, requiring a restart to get back up.
My logs look very similar to the ones provided in this thread.
