ZED SDK Can not find ZED Camera 2i

Hello,

My camera is not being detected by the ZED SDK anymore. I keep getting the message “Searching for Camera” and “Camera not found”. It is odd as it was working perfectly fine last night.

I am using it mainly for a Unity project, and of course the camera is not picked up on that software either.

Any advice? I am currently running a Diagnostic but it is taking a long time to complete, currently stuck at 60% for the Camera Test.

Many thanks,

Pierre

Hi,

Can you open the camera using the “Camera application”?

did you also try to unplug/replug? The camera might already be opened by another software, preventing you to open it again.

Stereolabs Support

Yes, it is being open and I can see the 2 camera displays on my Camera Application. I have unplugged/replugged multiple times and restarted my PC multiple times. I also downloaded the latest SDK.

I am also running on Windows.

What camera model do you have? is it a zed mini ?

Stereolabs Support

The model is a ZED 2i.

What changed in your setup ? Did you connect another USB device, or change the cable ?

Nothing changed. I have also tested the camera on 2 different devices, on which the camera previously used to work but both are not detecting the camera.

This looks like a hardware issue to me.
Do you have, by any chance, another USB cable you can try?

I have just tried with another cable and it is still not working.

Also, whenever I open the ZED Explorer with my canera connected, the app stops responding after a few seconds as it is searching for the camera and I have to close it from my Task Manager…

That was happening with both cables.

I am able to see the camera in my camera settings.

Also, I am just noticing that the issue of the ZED Explorer not responding only happens when my camera is connected to my computer. Otherwise, it works perfectly fine when the camera is unplugged.

I also just ran the Unity build which had the ZED camera integrated and was working perfectly fine last night, and I keep getting Camera ON/Camera OFF switches, however no detection. The blue light on the camera keeps turning off and on as well when I open the build.

It’s quite a frustrating situation, and I hate to put pressure but I have a showing which relied on the camera this Friday so I need to find a solution to fix this hardware/software problem in the shortest time possible. Really hope you can understand. I’m happy to move this via email if needed.

hi,

It looks like the computer does not have enough power to open the camera, which is surprising.
Did you connect any other USB device to your computer?

Can you try to :

  • Plug your PC into a power outlet, then test the camera.
  • Try all the USB ports (some provide more power than others).
  • Check in Device Manager → USB controllers → right-click → Properties → Power Management → uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”
  • In Power Options (Control Panel) → USB settings → disable USB selective suspend.
  • If possible, test the camera on another PC to confirm that the issue isn’t with the camera itself.

Stereolabs Support

Hi Benjamin,

I have tried to do that but no success in getting it to work still. I have also tried it on a different PC and no response there either.

Also, the camera used to turn on and off continuously when I opened my Unity build, but now it is not responding at all there either.

I can however, still see the camera feed in my Camera app.

I believe it is with the Hardware of the camera. I have run a Diagnostic and here it is:

I don’t know how this is possible but the camera is detected twice ?

You can see the following section is duplicated which should not be the case.

Do you see one or two cameras in your device manager?

That’s odd, I am only seeing it once in my Device Manager

Are you using a USB hub by any chance?

If so, can you try without it please?

I am not using a USB hub.

It’s just one single ZED 2i camera plugged in directly to my laptop. No other USB devices connected. And it’s at 100% battery and power cabled plugged in.

Thanks.

The video capture seems to be working fine, so the issue might come from the sensors (IMU, etc).

Can you try to open ZED Sensor Viewer and visually validate the sensor information ?

I can’t see any sensor data in the ZED Sensor Viewer because the camera is not detected, see attached photo. However, the camera is of course plugged in.

So, I managed to get my hands on another ZED 2i camera and it is not being picked up by my laptop. I connected the new ZED 2i camera on another machine, and it is being picked up by the ZED SDK, however, it is not being detected in my Unity project.

Any idea why this could happen? Is there any way to reset a camera? Or how would you advice me to move forward, specially in relation to a Unity project.
