ZED Link Duo / Quad

Hello,

I am interested in purchasing a ZED Link capture card and currently use three ZED X cameras, with plans to eventually expand to four. Since my project requires depth information, I need stereo camera support.

From the datasheet, I see that the ZED Link Duo can handle up to four ZED X cameras (I assume stereo cameras). However, when reviewing details about the ZED Link Quad, I came across the following note:

“When using the ZED Link Quad capture card with more than two stereo cameras, it is important to note that no more than two devices can be connected to the same GMSL2 port.”

My understanding from this is that each GMSL2 port can host two cameras, and since the Quad has two ports, that would allow up to four stereo cameras. But then Quad claims to support up to 8x ZED X cameras?

At the same time, the info on Quad website states:

“Starting with ZED X Driver v1.3.0, you can connect up to four Stereolabs GMSL2 cameras to each 4-wire GMSL2 port on the ZED Link Duo or ZED Link Quad capture cards.”

This is a bit confusing to me as to how these two pieces of information fit together. Could you please clarify how many ZED X stereo cameras can be connected and supported with the Duo and Quad cards, especially with the latest driver?

I use the Jetson Orin AGX Developer Kit.

Best,

Ermin

Hi,

Thanks for the report.

I confirm you can connect up to 4 cameras per GMSL port. The information stated in the notes is outdated.
However, I must inform you that you won’t be able to capture the video at 60 fps in that setup (4cams per port), only 30 fps is supported due to bandwidth limitations.
