ZED Camera Not Detected When Using USB 3.0 Extension Cable

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with my ZED camera, which I am using to capture scene depth. The camera needs to be positioned at a specific height, requiring the use of a USB 3.0 extension cable.

The problem is that the camera is not detected when using the extension cable, even though it works perfectly when connected directly to the PC. Additionally, the extension cable works with other devices but not with the ZED camera.

My question is: does the extension cable need to have specific features to function correctly, or is there another issue that could be causing this problem?

Thank you for your help.

Hi @Sonia
Welcome to the Stereolabs community.

What is the extension cable that you are using? Is it an active or passive model?

Hello @Myzhar,

I am using an active USB 3.0 extension cable with a length of 5 meters and a data transfer rate of up to 5 Gbps.

Thank you for your assistance.

ZED 2i requires high-quality USB3 cables to provide reliable connections because of the size and frequency of the streamed data.
Are you using the official cable?

I am using a USB 3.0 Type A (male to female) extension cable with a ZED model camera, not the ZED 2i. I have been waiting for the official cable to be available, but it has been out of stock for some time (USB 3.0 Type-A Active Extension Cable | Stereolabs), so I’m not using the official one.

The extension cable you are using may not be good enough to support the camera stream.

Thank you for your help. I tried using the official cable, and it works perfectly now.

Thanks again
