ZED Box Orin NX – Overvoltage Damage and Repair/RMA Inquiry

Dear Stereolabs Support Team,

I am contacting you regarding a serious issue that occurred with a ZED Box Orin NX.

During a system integration session, the power input of the device was accidentally connected to a higher voltage than intended, approximately 30 V.

When the system battery was powered on, sparks were observed near the power connector and the Jetson power input area, after which the system completely stopped working.

Currently, the ZED Box:

  • Shows no LED indicators or any other signs of life.

  • Does not power on when using the original Stereolabs power supply.

  • Shows no visible physical damage and there is no noticeable burning smell.

  • The internal NVMe storage appears to be intact, and all data remains accessible.

Given that the system is completely unresponsive, we would like to ask:

  1. Have you encountered similar cases of overvoltage damage on the ZED Box Orin NX?

  2. In such cases, is the damage typically limited to the power input stage/carrier board, or can it also affect the Jetson Orin NX module itself?

  3. Is there any possibility of repairing the unit, for example by replacing the carrier board, power regulation stage, or protection components, without requiring a complete system replacement?

  4. Do you offer RMA or in-lab diagnostic and repair services for this type of failure?

Our main goal is to recover the system without having to replace the entire unit, especially since the NVMe storage and project data remain intact.

We would therefore like to know whether it would be possible to send the ZED Box to Stereolabs for diagnosis and, if feasible, repair.

We would greatly appreciate your guidance on the available options and recommended next steps.

Thank you very much for your time and support.

Kind regards,

Pablo Ballesteros Delgado
