ZED Box Orin NX 16GB wont turn on

ZED Box Orin NX 16GB (hostname GTW-ONX16-ubuntu, serial number on the label: GTW-ONX1-C1VBM00O, purchased no longer powers on.

What happened

  • 2026-11-01 ~10:40 (Tbilisi, UTC+4): the box was running normally (JetPack 6 / L4T 36.x, ZED SDK 5.x, our recording service) and was shut down cleanly through software (`systemctl poweroff`, triggered by our end-of-day routine).
  • Later the same day the box was connected to its usual DC supply. The box did not start: no power LED, no HDMI, no Ethernet link..

What we have tried (following ZED Box Troubleshooting | StereoLabs and the reset/update guide)

  1. All peripherals removed (4x ZED X on GMSL2, Ethernet, HDMI, USB, GNSS antenna). DC barrel only, no PoE+. Waited > 60 s before re-applying power. No LED.
  2. Original Stereolabs 12 V 5 A adapter on mains, barrel screwed in. No LED.
  3. Power cycled from the wall cord 6+ times with ~5 s pauses while watching the LED (the workaround suggested by your staff in community thread 9283). No LED at any point.
  4. Force Recovery Mode: micro-USB data cable from a host PC to the port labelled OTG connected before applying the barrel jack, tried on two different host USB ports and two cable attempts. The host (Windows 11, device enumeration monitored continuously via PnP) never saw any USB device arrive – no `0955:7323`, not even a failed enumeration.
  5. Ethernet connected directly to the host: the link never comes up (host adapter stays “Disconnected, 0 bps”), i.e. the carrier’s PHY is unpowered.
  6. The unit has not been opened. After several minutes on power the case stays __________ (warm / cold).

Our conclusion matches your troubleshooting guide: power LED off and no Recovery Mode = probable hardware failure of the carrier board. The symptoms are the same as community threads 10569 (“ZED Box won’t power on after shutdown, no Power LED, carrier JNX42-SL”) and 9283 (“Power LED off – no boot after freeze”).

Could you please tell us how to proceed?

Thank you,
