ZED Box Mini UART Capability

Hi,

I’m after clarification, as I’m reading some conflicting reports across forum posts and Google searches.

Can the UART available on the ZED Box Mini that is exposed by the GPIO port be used as a general purpose serial interface to connect the ZED Box to another external device?

I see tty’s such as /dev/ttyTHS1 and /dev/ttyTHS2 - but when we wire the UART pins through a 3.3v RS232 UART adapter we are unable to get any communication happening.

No, it can’t.

We will release a new version of the carrier board after the summer period with a rework of the schematics to fix this behavior.
