ZED 2 Camera Only Detected as USB 2.0 — Depth Sensing Unavailable

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a persistent issue where my ZED 2 camera is only detected as a USB 2.0 device, regardless of which USB 3.0 port or system I use. As a result, I’m unable to access depth sensing or high-res modes.

System Info:

  • Camera: ZED 2
  • ZED SDK: 5.0.5
  • Main Host: ASUS GA401QEC (Zephyrus G14)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS
  • GPU: RTX 3050 Ti (Laptop)
  • OS: Windows 11
  • USB Controller: AMD USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller
  • Also tested on: Jetson Xavier and another PC – same result

Troubleshooting so far:

  • Verified USB 3.0 ports (also tested with other USB 3.0 devices)
  • No hubs/extenders used
  • Confirmed USB 2.0 speed via USBDeview
  • Observed Sensors MCU invalid serial number in ZED Diagnostic Tool
  • Reinstalled SDK and drivers
  • Previously worked fine on Jetson Xavier

And here is the diagonstic results.

Given these, I suspect the built-in USB cable or connector may be degraded (e.g., USB 2.0 lines working, but USB 3.0 lines not).

Questions:

  1. Has anyone had a similar issue where ZED 2 falls back to USB 2.0 permanently?
  2. Can a partially damaged built-in cable cause this?
  3. What steps can I take next – is RMA or repair available?

Happy to provide logs or further tests if helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @easynotsoeasy
Welcome to the StereoLabs community.

If the camera is connected to a USB3 port, then it’s possible that the cable is damaged and the USB controller switches to USB2 mode to provide a more reliable connection.
The ZED 2 is no longer in production and We do not provide repair/replacement service for cameras out of warranty.

You can try to unmount it and we do not provide repair/replacement service for cameras out of warranty.

You can try to unmount it and replace the cable by following this unofficial guide.

Thanks @Myzhar
Can you atleast suggest me any place where i can get the cable from?
Or what type of cable would I need? ( i.e : what sort of connection does it have with the pcb?)

It’s a standard USB3 cable with USB3 micro B connector for high-speed communication. You can find it in electronics stores.

Alright.

I’ll post the update here after I replace the cable
