Unable to detect cameras on ZED Link Quad with Orin AGX

I was previously able to run ZED_Explorer and see video feed from my cameras, and this was relatively recently, like less than a month ago. This is how I know the drivers and other software are working fine. But I stopped using the device for a couple weeks and when I came back there is no response from the cameras.

I’ve been bouncing around with AI trying to come up with a solution but nothing has stuck so far.

  • Let power drain with all cables disconnected
  • Tried the troubleshooting section for ZED again
  • Tried to unbind and rebind the pcie that wasn’t connecting
  • Swapping to a new GMSL cable
  • Measuring DC voltage of the GMSL cable while card powered (No Voltage Detected)
  • Disabling, waiting, and re-probing the camera after boot

This makes me feel like its a hardware issue, rather than software, but before purchasing new devices I would like to confirm. I ran the following diagnostics commands:
sudo ZED_Diagnostic --dmesg

ZED_Diagnostic -c

And uploaded the resulting files to a Google drive because this forum doesn’t allow new users to upload files.

I’m guessing this is probably a simple fix for an expert, but it has been really challenging for me. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Here is the link I forgot to include in the original post.

Hi @lescidium
The diagnostic files show that the capture card is not detected.

Is it possible that the connection is not good?
Is it safely screwed to the carrier board with the spacers?
Is the power source correct?

Hello Myzhar,

Thanks for the reply. I figured it could be the card connection.

I tested the power supply with a voltmeter, says its above 12V.

We don’t have the screws or spacers. It seems like the threading is 2.5 M, is that correct? What are the dimensions of the spacers?

Thanks,

Kenny

They are normally included with the capture card and are STRONGLY recommended because an unstable connection can also burn the capture card or the carrier board.

If you cannot find them anymore:

  • 3x M2.5 x 20 mm bolts (22mm if you consider the head)
  • 3x 16mm standoffs

Hey Myzhar,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I wish I would’ve had all the components when I was assigned this task. It’s useful to know how important the structural components are. We will wait on delivery.

Here’s to hoping everything still works!

If we try to test the card after proper installation and we see the same error, can we assume hardware damage? Also, is there a safe way of determining if the damage is localized to just the card or just the carrier board?

We have more than one Orin AGX, but I am wondering if it safe to try the card on a different device if we experience the same error, or if we should assume its damaged and try to repair or purchase a new one.

The only way to exclude damages is to test the setup with another AGX Orin device.
