Removing Polarizing Filter

Hi,

I recently purchased a ZED 2i camera with a polarizing filter.

I am placing the camera behind a clear polycarbonate plastic window, and have since realized that the polarizing filter may be introducing color distortions as in this video: Polarized light plastic stress (birefringence) - YouTube

Is there a way I can remove the polarizing filter from my ZED 2i camera?

Thanks,

Hi,

You can’t remove the polarizing filter on this camera.
However, in the video you mention, the color distorsion comes from the fact that the light source is polarized too (it’s the computer monitor). That will not happen with another light.

Have you removed the plastic film that ships with the cameras? I had a similar light distortion on previous cameras that was actually due to the protective film I had not noticed/removed before installation.
