We are interested in purchasing Stereolabs X Series cameras for our autonomous vehicle.
As we plan to begin migration to the Jetson Thor in the coming weeks, the question of compatibly came up.
I’ve read the article https://www.stereolabs.com/en-ch/blog/zed-cameras-on-nvidia-jetson-thor-high-performance-perception-at-the-edge which states: Full GMSL2 connectivity for the ZED X family will be enabled through our partners’ solutions.
Could you please provide us more details on this matter?
We are especially interested in which technology the solution will use (GMSL2 to Ethernet, Holoscan?), if they are dependent on specific Jetson carrier boards and when these solutions will be available for purchase.
We are collaborating with partners to release a full GMSL2-based solution 100% compatible with the existing cameras of the ZED X family soon.
It’s not a GMSL2 to Ethernet or GMSL2 to Holoscan conversion, but a pure GMSL2 connection, the same as that is currently available with Orin-based ECUs.
Regarding Holoscan and Ethernet, our R&D team is constantly working to improve our cameras and introduce new technologies, so I cannot rule out the possibility that similar solutions could be available in 2026.
No, the carrier board of the AGX Thor devkit is not equipped with the usual Samtec mezzanine connector for cameras or CSI ports, so it’s not possible to use GMSL2 capture cards with it.
