Neural Plus Depth mode performance and quality issues in Zed2i

System Specifications(on which Zed2i is tested):

  • Ubuntu 22.04
  • CPU: Intel i7-11700KF @ 3.6GHz x 16
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX A2000 12GB
  • CUDA 12.4
  • ZED SDK 4.1.2

After comparing the depth results from both the neural and neural plus mode, it was observed that the neural plus mode performs worse than the neural mode for HD720 resolution and frame rate of 60 Hz. The GPU utilization was 99% for neural plus mode and 67% for neural mode.(Please refer the attached screenshots)

The GPU bottleneck seems to be the reason for poor performance, is that true?
We plan on conducting the performance test on another GPU (Nvidia A5500) to validate the assumption.
Also, what GPU do you suggest for neural plus mode and if there are any benchmarking results that we could refer to?

Hi @TAI
Welcome to the Stereolabs Community.

NEURAL+ provides more stable and reliable depth maps, but it is more demanding than the NEURAL depth mode in terms of GPU requirements.
The performance you reported is expected.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
So what GPU do you suggest for neural plus mode and if there are any benchmarked GPUs for Neural+ mode that we could test on or any minimum specifications of the GPU required?

For desktop/laptop PCs we recommend an NVIDIA RTX GPU card with at least 6 GB of VRAM.
