Intermittent detection issue – only 3 out of 4 ZED X cameras detected on ZED Box Orin NX (driver 1.3.2, JetPack 6.0)

Hello Stereolabs Support,

I’m experiencing an intermittent issue with a 4-camera GMSL setup where only three out of four ZED X cameras are detected on startup.

System details:

  • Hardware: ZED Box Orin NX 16 GB

  • Cameras: 4× ZED X

  • OS: Jetson Linux R36.3.0 / JetPack 6.0

  • Driver: was 1.3.1 (decided update to 1.3.2, but doesnt help)

  • Stereolabs ZED SDK Version : 5.0.7

Issue:

  • After a cold boot or reboot, ZED_Explorer -a usually reports only 3 cameras instead of 4.

  • The 4th camera behaves as if it is not connected: it does not appear in ZED_Explorer -a, and my application also only sees 3 cameras.

  • Sometimes this 4th camera is recognized later, without any physical changes to the wiring, so the problem is intermittent.

  • When the issue occurs, there are no obvious error messages related to that camera in dmesg (at least nothing clearly indicating a failed GMSL link for that port).

Questions:

  1. Are there any recommended debug steps or tools to check the GMSL link status per port (specific kernel logs, devicetree checks, additional configuration) to determine whether this is a hardware or driver issue?

  2. Would it be helpful if I provide logs such as dmesg, the output of ZED_Explorer -a, and ZED_Diagnostic -c for the cases when only 3 cameras are detected?

Best regards,

Ti Ed
