How to extend the range of zed 2i camera reliably to 50m or more?
My computer is located really far from the camera. I tried off the shelf USB extenders and USB - Ethernet - USB extenders. None of them worked. The provided USB cable with ZED seems to work. But not the other off the shelf cables. Has anyone faced this problem?
PS: The maximum length of official Zed 2i USB cable available is too small for my use case (only 10m). I am looking for a range of 50m+
Please note that you need a Jetson Orin NX module, the Jetson Orin Nano modules are not equipped with hardware stream encoders and cannot compress data in real-time.
Hahaha. You want me to spend $900 on a silly PCB board for being able to send data to a PC from a sensor which merely cost $400. This is laughable. This whole stereo camera is a scam. You make it very difficult for people to use it. You force people to buy more unnecessary accessories which cost 2-3x more than the original product by inventing connectors that are not main stream (GMSL, USB) for data transmission. This whole camera could have been made just PoE or Ethernet. It is unnecessarily complicated in order to force people to buy more gadgets that cost 2x more than the actual product
Hi @arun89
USB 3 and GMSL2 connections have physical limitations that are not eliminable.
We provide a workaround that is used by many different customers in many different conditions.
Ethernet connectivity is on our roadmap, but unfortunately, it’s not yet available.
If our devices do not meet your requirements, please consider devices that can work with your application, but please do not denigrate a product just because you cannot use it under your conditions.
