Encryption Options for ZED Box Orin NX

Hi Stereolabs team,

Congratulations on the recent acquisition by Ouster.

I’m using a ZED Box Orin NX (16GB, 1TB) with ZED X Mini GMSL2 cameras and would like guidance on supported or recommended encryption approaches.

Specifically:

  • Is full-disk encryption (e.g., LUKS) supported on the ZED Box Orin NX?
  • Any known performance or compatibility considerations with the ZED SDK?
  • Are there recommended practices for securing recorded data (SVO, logs) at rest?

If there are official docs or best-practice references, I’d appreciate a pointer.

Thanks.

Thank you. Please note that this acquisition does not change our focus or introduce any impact on your business. Stereolabs continues to operate as an independent entity. Our product lineup, pricing, and your usual points of contact remain exactly the same.
If anything, joining forces with Ouster strengthens what we’re already building by adding more resources, scale, and long-term stability.

Regarding disk encryption, I have to say that this is a topic on which we don’t have reliable information, because it’s a request we don’t receive very often.

NVIDIA provides a detailed guide here, but we don’t have enough information at this time to say whether this will impact the functionality of the device, the ZED X driver, and the ZED SDK.

We have planned a series of tests to better characterize the effects of encryption on the capabilities of the ZED Box.
