Compatibility of ZED SDK with Solectrix proFRAME and Neousys PCIe-GL26-JXN for 4× ZED X (GMSL2) setup

Hi everyone,

We’re thinking about setting up a multi-camera ZED X system (4 units, GMSL2). To overcome the computational limits of ZED Box Orin NX, we want to migrate all processing to a high-performance workstation equipped with an NVIDIA RTX GPU and a GMSL2 acquisition card.

We’re currently evaluating two PCIe capture solutions to connect the 4 ZED X cameras over GMSL2:

Option 1: Solectrix proFRAME 3.0 + camAD3 GMSL2 adapter

  • Driver model: Standard Linux UVC (/dev/video*)
  • Status: Appears to be plug-and-play with ZED SDK ≥ 4.0
  • Bandwidth: 40 Gbps per adapter
  • Scalable to 8 cameras (2 adapters)
  • OS support: Linux + Windows
  • solectrix.de

Option 2: Neousys PCIe-GL26-JXN

  • Driver model: Requires a custom BSP provided by Neousys (“GL26 ZED X BSP”)
  • OS support: Linux only (Ubuntu 20.04 / 22.04), no Windows
  • Integration: Flash BSP image + configure ZED SDK manually
  • neousys-tech.com

Questions:

  1. Does ZED SDK officially support both boards (Solectrix and Neousys) for GMSL2 acquisition with ZED X?
  2. Have you tested or validated either in practice?
  3. Would you recommend one over the other for a PC-based setup with RTX GPU, aiming for:
  • full 4-camera grab at high FPS (e.g. 60 FPS, SVGA or HD)
  • use of all ZED SDK features (depth, positional tracking, Fusion API, etc.)
  • future expansion to 6–8 cameras

Any insights, compatibility notes, or official confirmation would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Cubia

It does not. We use the ISP onboard the NVIDIA Jetson modules with the current models of GMSL2 cameras that we produce.

We have not.

The only validated process to develop with a PC using a ZED GMSL2 camera is the one described here.

Sorry to hear that, so it would be impossible to use Zed SDK with that kind of hardware?
Do you plan to add this kind of support in the future? Being able to use a powerful GPU with GMSL2 cams would be really helpful! Unfortunately the Zed Box has really limited computational power!

The ZED SDK only works with StereoLabs input sources.

We don’t, the ZED SDK will never be opened to third-party devices for obvious copyright reasons.
