Camera Setup planning for 360 perception

What is the best Kit setup for 360x180° vision around a hovering drone using ZED One S Fisheye cameras? We must use fisheye. Things we are considering (please comment):

  1. Please clarify wether “surround vision” means just 360 video or actual 3D surround point cloud generation etc.?
  2. We understand that fisheye cams need not overlap in thier FoV completely for such a setup, as show on your offroad autonomy page - but don’t I need some overlap? What are a) geometrical, b) calibration procedure related or c) performance aspects to consider when planning the setup?
  3. One AGX Xavier with up to 8 cams is a tidier system than several linked Mini Boxes but do I have to worry about low frame rates with the Xavier?
  4. Is it important to consider that we use synchronized LED video strobes?

A note to sales: The link to the surround vision kit which interests us most in this context is broken.

Thanks so much!

Tom

We do not provide point cloud fusion yet, so it’s only “surround vision”.

To create virtual stereo rigs by coupling two monoculare cameras, an overlap of the field of view is required. Please read more here:

No, the AGX Orin device can handle 8x ZED X One cameras with high performance.

You can use the ZED Link Quad trigger output for synchronization:
