Camera encasing/protection

Hi,

I’m seeking advice on designing an enclosure for outdoor use of a ZED camera. I’ve seen some examples where a protective screen is placed in front of the camera, which seems like a good approach. I’m considering a similar design, but I’m concerned about the potential impact on depth accuracy—specifically whether the screen might introduce distortion or affect stereo computation.

If this is a known issue, what would be the best way to calibrate the system to account for the screen? Any recommendations or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi @originlake
For this kind of design, you must be sure that the frontal panel is perfectly homogeneous, with no imperfections and curves that could introduce optic distortions that invalidate the factory camera calibration.

Otherwise, manual calibration is required.
